Race Plates

This page is all about your race number, or race plate.  Where you get it, why you need it, etc.

Required for Pre-Ride

When you're out on course, NorCal wants to know
  1. Who you are
  2. What team you're with
  3. Are you registered/waivered with NICA
They keep track of these things by requiring that you have a race plate on your bike to pre-ride the course.

Getting your Plate

For your first race, your coach or team director will pick up all the race plates for the team from registration and bring them to the pit zone.  Come to the team pit zone, and your numbers will be there!  After that, you're expected to hang onto it and bring it to the rest of the races.

Middle Schoolers can Pre-Ride

If you're a middle schooler that is registered in the pit zone and you want to pre-ride, you can!  Just get a blank race plate from your team director and write your team name and your name on it.  Keep it for the season, it's your ticket to ride every course!

Taking Care of your Plate

Your race plates are for the entire season, so don't lose it!  A replacement plate will cost you $20 and won't look as cool as your original.  So...
  1. DO take them off your bike
  2. DON’T throw them out!
  3. DO bring them to every race

Other pro tips
  • take them off before you drive on the highway - the high winds can rip them off
  • clean the dirt off with a lightly damp cloth, too much and it can make the RFID stickers come off.
