Middle School & High School Mountain Biking in Santa Clara County
Black Mountain Composite is a NorCal NICA mountain bike team welcoming middle school and high school riders from across Santa Clara County, including Cupertino, Saratoga, Sunnyvale, Los Altos, Mountain View, Campbell, Santa Clara, Campbell and San Jose. The team provides a supportive, inclusive environment where every student can discover the joy of mountain biking—whether racing competitively or simply riding for fun.

- Inclusive for all riders: No tryouts, no benches—every student gets to ride and race.
- Middle school & high school focus: Riders in grades 6–12 are welcome, with programs tailored to different ages and skill levels.
- Girls & boys encouraged: The team actively supports girls and boys in mountain biking, building confidence, leadership, and community, and have girls-only rides with our BMC Grit Rides.
- Adult mentors & coaches: Parents and community members can join as volunteer ride leaders, coaches, and mentors, helping guide the next generation of riders while enjoying the trails themselves.
- NICA values: Sportsmanship, teamwork, and fun are at the heart of every practice and race.
- Local trails, big adventures: Rides happens on Santa Clara County’s best dirt, including Fremont Older, Arastradero, Monte Bello, Skeggs, Soquel Demo, Wilder Ranch and Calero. On weekdays most rides are centered around the Cupertino/Los Altos Hills area. On weekends, we tend to venture a bit further to explore great Bay Area mountain biking.
