Team Provisions
At every race the team volunteers will provide
- Morning Snack (such as bagels or muffins)
- Fruit (such as bananas and oranges)
- Clif Bars (for racers only)
- Self-Serve Lunch (11:30-1:00) probably will typically be sandwich fixings
- Honey Stingers & Shot Bloks (these are for racers only)
- Afternoon Snack Food (chips/salsa type stuff)
Bring for Yourself
What you need to bring for yourself depends on how you want to run it. You could just eat the morning snack, sandwich for lunch, and afternoon snack then catch a late dinner on the way home. Don't want a sandwich for lunch? Bring $20 and grab a burrito for brunch at the taco truck.
There has traditionally been a taco truck at the NorCal races where you can buy food, coffee, etc. Also there is usually a tent set up selling juice slushie drinks. Super popular after a hot race day. I personally have used the taco truck, brought PBJ's, and brought grocery store sushi depending on how much of a hurry I'm in.
Racers especially should have a good plan for their food, and if you want something in particular or need something special you should bring it. The early racers eat their own breakfast usually, then eat the team food after. Sophomore boys tend to eat a big breakfast, then snack up to the race, then eat lunch etc afterwards. JV boys tend to eat a regular breakfast then a carefully chosen meal around 11am, a couple of hours before their race. Varsity boys will want to eat a hearty breakfast and probably the team food for lunch then snacks before their afternoon race.
There are lots of ways to do it, but it's good to think through it and know your options.
